This 13 Days fly-in safari & primates trekking covers the best of Uganda’s destinations including Uganda’s most beautiful sceneries of Kidepo and its endless herds of buffalos on the run from the Lions, leopards and cheetahs looking for what to make their days moving.
The aerial views of river Nile and Murchison falls NP with a close encounter of the world’s strongest falls, Meeting Human’s closest relatives at Kibale forest and sailing on the Kazinga channel in company of the elephant herds coming to take a sip of this fresh water instantly quenching their thirst, the magical tree climbing lions of Ishasha sums up the Savanah experience whereas the gentle giants of Bwindi makes a touchdown of your trip adrenaline the moment you step out for this memorable canopied forests of Bwindi Impenetrable forest and the silver back will leave you astonished by the melody of their calmness and yet friendly.
Day 1: Airport pick up and transfer to your booked hotel.
Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport, our driver / safari guide will be waiting for you, pick up and proceed to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for overnight stay. The guide will be brief about the 13 days safari before you retire for night stay and preparation for the next day.
Day 2: Drive to Entebbe airport and flight to Kidepo Valley NP.
Early morning you will be transferred to the airport for a domestic flight to Uganda’s remote national park, the flight takes about 2 hours to land, and the guide will pick you from Apoka airstrip and transfer you to the lodge. Hot Lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon go for game drive.
Day 3 & Day 4. Game drive and cultural experience
you will spend these days in the park, explore the park with daily morning and evening game drives and a visit to the local village to enjoy a day with the Karamojong people.
Day 5: Transfer from Kidepo Valley to Murchison falls NP
Early breakfast, the guide will pick you and proceed to Murchison falls National park, it’s possible to fly to Murchison falls but there is a unique beauty of the region which should be missed thus preferring land transfer to Murchison falls the drive takes about 4-5 hours passing through complete lowland areas of the Northern Uganda, most of these villages are still remote which grass thatched huts so you will experience real African villages. Check in at the lodge and evening game drive.
Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise.
Full day in the park, with Morning game drive to search for the predators of Murchison falls and clear landscape gives you chance to see as many animals as possible not forgetting the tallest animals in the world, Giraffe and largest animals on land escorted by endless herds of Buffalos and Uganda Kobs, in the afternoon after an early lunch transfer to the starting point of the boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, with great chances of bird spotting and photography later overnight at the lodge.
Day 7: Transfer from Murchison falls NP to Kasese airstrip, drive to Kibale NP.
Relaxed breakfast and later transfer to Pakuba airstrip for another connecting flight to Kasese airstrip, your guide will be there waiting for you. Hot Lunch will be served to you in Fort portal town on your way to Kibale National Park. Check in at the lodge and relax at the lodge in the afternoon.
Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking Kibale Forest National Park
Early morning breakfast, transfer to the starting point of Chimpanzee tracking, undergo general briefing by a ranger guide and later start the walk to the forest to have an encounter with the only Apes that share 99% of human DNA, later come back to the lodge for hot Lunch and community extension visit afterwards, this will give you plight to encounter with the local people and get to know their ways of living. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Visit crater lakes and transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
Relaxed breakfast, a drive through the crater lakes and top of the world viewpoint will give you an opportunity to see endless rolling hills going up to the foothills of Rwenzori Mountains; this place has one of the most beautiful landscapes, later proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park hot lunch and later evening game drive if time allows.
Day 10: Lion tracking experience
You will have an early breakfast and then drive to the park office a predator tracker ranger guide will escort us to the game drive to look for Lions; with this experience you have more than 90% chances of seeing the lions and leopard, later a Boat cruise on the Kazinga channel will be another highlight of this trip. This Channel has the world’s concentration of Hippos and on a sunny day you many elephants coming to quench their thirst on the fresh waters of the Lake George and Lake Edward joined by a natural channel. Relax at the lodge in the evening.
Day 11: Game drive, boat cruise and transfer to Bwindi national park
Morning breakfast, drive to Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park, this is famous for tree climbing lions and on spotting them many reasons are given to why they climb but major two are for spotting prey and hiding from disturbing flies, also this section of the park has the Topis (Antelope) which can only be seen here in this park.
Proceed to Bwindi National park through beautiful villages covered by, Banana, coffee and tea crops a clear sign that Uganda’s economy is highly supported by agriculture. Relax at the lodge in the afternoon as you wait for your Lunch and Gorilla trekking preparation.
Day 12: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early breakfast, pick your packed lunch and extra drinking water, you will go for a short briefing at the park offices to orient you on the dos’ and don’ts’ while you go for this amazing and life time experience. Meet the rangers and guides at the office in company of a group of community entertaining group which tells you the stories of their culture through songs and traditional dances. You will later be briefed and the next thing is to start the walk to look for gorillas, time spent in the forest is un predictable so we recommend some level of walking fitness for about 5 hours or more.
For those who feel they can’t make it alone, there is a team of support staff who can be hired at an affordable fee and this is a form of supporting the. community and encouraging conservation of these gentle giants which are at the verge of extinction and considered highly endangered by IUCN. When you meet them you will spend an hour with them and come back to the lodge.
Day 13: Flight transfer from Bwindi National Park to Entebbe
Relaxed breakfast, transfer to a nearby airstrip for your flight to Entebbe for your outbound connecting flight.
