This 22 Days Primates track, Wildlife, Hiking and Community Adventure trip shall take you through the different parks, best sceneries and adventurous cultures and areas in Uganda.
Itinerary for 22 Days Primates track, Wildlife and Hiking
Day 1: Arrival at airport of Entebbe
After you arrive at the airport, you will be met the company’s driver guide and be transferred to either Kampala the capital city or stay in Entebbe town.
Day 2: Tour of Kampala City
After breakfast, you will go for a city tour of Kampala visiting Gladhafi mosque, Nakasero market, the tax park, you will be surprised with how vibrant the city is from as early as 7:0am. You will also visit historical cathedral of Lubaga and Namirembe, you will visit the Kasubi tombs. Later have lunch and then be transferred to jinja town the second biggest city of Uganda.
Day 3: Visit jinja town and the source of the Nile site
This day, you will visit jinja town and later go to the source of the Nile site. After that you will embark on the transfer to Sipi falls in Kapchorwa ,the highest waterfall in Uganda.
Day 4: Visit Eastern Uganda
Transfer to Pian upe game reserve in northeastern Uganda. you will leave the stunning view s of Sipi falls in the morning and start the journey to Sipi falls. You will have a drive with nice sceneries a head of you and count on arriving in Pian upe a reserve in the most unique setting to the north of the Elgon Mountain having over 700m. You will try out the cheetahs, roan antelopes normally very shy in this area and your stay is seen as a habituation measure.
Day 5: Visit to the Karamoja Wilderness
This day you will go through the karamoja wilderness area. You will continue your journey off the beaten track going through the tribes hoping you see a market day. This area is very remote with a scenic reserve, local people, markets in the most untouched area and remote village setup as the high lights.
Day 6: Visit to Kidepo Valley National Park
You will be transferred towards kidepo valley national parjk enering through nataba gate. Kidepo is one of the wildest and most spectacular resrves in Africa. The landscape throuthout the park is studedwith small hills rocky out crops and inselbergs from which one can obtain stuning view in all directions. You will enjoy panoramic views of the Narus river valley for game viewing and photography of elephants, herd of buffaloes, jackals, klispringer and possibly lions.
Day 7: Explore the karagorok hotsprings
After an early breakfast, you will go for a mornig game drive to the karagorok hotsprings area crossing the sand river.A variety of animal can be seen roaming around and after which you will connect back for lunch. In the afternoon you will have a cultural experience that will bring into contact with karamajong people at karenga and kapendo.you will meet cultural elders and have an opportunity to interact with them
Day 8: Visit to Gulu town.
This day you will be transferred to the second biggest town in the north going through the flat scenic land scape wit loca; villages until you reach Gulu town. Here you will be taken to Baker’s fort in the afternoon to witness one of the oldest forts in Uganda where Sir Samuel baker was trying to fight and stop slave trade in the north the years of the late 1800’s, overnight in Gulu town.
Day 9: Transfer to Murchison Falls Park
THIS Day after a befitting breakfast you will embark on the transfer to Uganda’s biggest national park called Murchison falls park dubbed as the giraffe’s paradise. You will go through the scanty villages and advance through into the park as you descent to the albert niole. You will have a game safari in the afternoon.
Day 10: Game Viewing in the Murchison
You will wake up very early in the morning to go for a game viewing safari in search of big cats like leopards, lions. you will also meet elephants, giraffes, buffaloes plus many more. After lunch you will be taken for an afternoon boat cruise on the victoria nile where you get to see hippos yawning ,nile crocodiles and a variety of birds along the banks.
Day 11: Visit to Budongo Forest
In the morning, we will again go for a morning game drive to search for some animals before we cross the ferry to the southern bank to go to budongo forest for the afternoon chimp tracking and after which transfer to masindi town for an overnight.
Day 12: Kibale National Park
After breakfast, we shall transfer out of masindi town to kibale national park the primate capital of Uganda anda the whole of east Africa. Overnight in Kibale or Fort Portal town. We shall have lunch in fort portal, and after which go for a nature walking safari to visit amabere ga nyinamwiru along Budibugyo road, where you will be shown ancient caves and geographical stalagmites.
Day 13: Chimpanzee Trekking Kibale
In the morning you will assemble at Kanyankyu briefing center for tracking process to begin. You will be given one hour with the chimps and after you will return for lunch. In the afternoon you will be taken for a community nature walking safari to mix with the locals and interact with them.
Day 14: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
This day you will first go for a crater area walk, before you embark on a transfer to queen Elizabeth national park. You will drive through the crater lakes in the hills through to sample out the surprising diversity of savannah trees and wildlife. The target destination being the 1978 sqkm queen Elizabeth park.
Day 15: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park
On this day you will go for an early morning game safari in search of lions, elephants, kobs, buffaloes and lots more the list is endless. After lunch you again go for a boat cruise on the 6km Kazinga channel that links lake George and lake Edward. Here you can see land and water adapted hippopotamuses yawning and some slashing canine to each other and the national geographical society killing machine called Nile crocodile along the banks and the savannah version of pigs the warthog (pumba) of the award-winning lion king. Along the peninsula you also have a magnificent view of birds and animals like the ever-playing African elephants in water as we sigh and reset fatigue and stress to point zero.
Day 16: Transfer to Ishasha- Home to the tree climbing Lions.
On this morning, you will transfer to ishasha the southern part of queen Elizabeth bordering the Congolese boarder, you will drive off in this adventurous vast savannah area with Topis and the southern version of elephants to get the lions high up in the fig tree branches normally after midday. overnight in ishasha area.
Day 17: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
This day you will be transferred to Bwindi impenetrable forest. You will have lunch in bwindi area and in the afternoon go for batwa/pygmy experience where you get to interact with the pypmies who once used to live in the forest but now have to integrated within the community.
Day 18: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
This is the gorilla tracking day in the impenetrable forest of Bwindi. You will have an early breakfast and be taken for a briefing. This forest is home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas. This forest is also full of birds, butterflies and plant species. It has forest elephants, duikers. After tracking we come back to the lodge for an overnight.
Day 19: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
This is a relaxation day after gorilla tracking. you will be transferred to lake bunyonyi going through cultivated hills you wil check in time for lunch to a lake above 1840m above sea level after driving through cultivated hills. It is deservedly nice after trotting from Kampala since day one and some early starts without any rest.
Day 20: Explore the Kigezi highlands.
This day after breakfast you will take on a number of activities which are optional such as canoe ride, swimming, visiting bushara and sharps island the list is endless of decide to stay and read a novel or peruse through our safari photos that you have been taking on the safari ever since you started.
Day 21: Lake Mburo National Park
Here you will have a transfer to lake mburo national park, the zebra magnet. You will have lunch anroute and proceed to the park afterwards. In the evening you will embark on an afternoon/evening game safari searching zebras, impalas, leopards and many more.
Day 22: Nature Walk and transfer back to Kampala.
This day, very early in the morning, you will be taken on a nature walking game safari and later return to the lodge for breakfast before you will be taken back to Kampala or Entebbe for an overnight flight back home.
